We love the Pixies. We LOOOVE the Pixies! They are one of those rare bands that sound like nothing before them and is impossible to imitate. They are easily one the the greatest bands ever. Great art seems to thrive on conflict and dysfunction and it was ultimately this discord within the band that led to the end of the Pixies in 1993. It was one of those breakups that felt permanent and a reunion seemed as likely as Flavor Flav actually finding love on TV. Oh wait, I think that actually just happened, sort of. Well, it just seemed impossible.
Hold on, what’s this? The Pixies are getting together for a reunion tour (that was me talking to myself in 2004). So yeah, it happened and in 2004 they went on tour. A very successful tour as a matter of fact. In chicago for example, they sold out 5 nights at the 4,500 person capacity Aragon Ballroom. Yes, we were there and yes, they ruled.
The reunion tour was documented in the film “loudQUIETloud: A Film About the Pixies” which is now available on DVD and we are officially recommending. No, we are DEMANDING that you see it! It’s a fascinating look into the more mature but still dysfunctional band and their strange dynamic. Just rent it already, geez!
Here they are back in 1988 ruling so hard it hurts. I love this song so much it makes me want to eat my computer.

We are embarking on what promises to be a doozy of a project this summer. A tree house in our back yard! Kent is quite serious about this sort of thing so that has earned him the privilege of helping us. He is in fact practically driving the whole damn thing, God love him. This reminds me of how we started Fooey – I was getting advice from him all the time and finally just asked him to go into business with me. Same thing here. We talked a lot about it and he had so many ideas about how it could be constructed, John and I decided he was key if it was ever going to become a reality. Sucker that Kent is he said yes, again. So we thought it would be fun to post each phase of the job so that anyone interested in doing something like this possibly has another resource. I say possibly because we have literally done one day’s worth of work and as you can see the structure is pretty abstract at this point.
The 14′x 9′ structure is going to consist of four posts that support the house 8 feet off the ground. We aren’t nailing to the tree directly because of its shape and the size of the tree house. There will be an enclosed area with several windows and a slanted roof on one side of the tree and on the other side of the tree’s “Y” there will be a balcony. It’s hard to describe but hopefully it will soon take shape.
The first day was important and time consuming because John and Kent needed to get the 4 concrete foundation footings in just the right spots to insure the frame will be square and plumb. Math, string and levels were involved but they mostly made it up as they went and could be heard saying “I think that should be good enough. Right?”

We are extremely excited to announce the launch of our new summer line! We think this is our best line ever and can’t wait for everyone to finally see it.
As always, we have worked really hard to keep the prices reasonable and are proud to say most of our new items are under $20 and nothing is over $24. Let me tell you, this is no easy task for a small company these days. We will never be able to compete with the Old Navys and Targets of the world because we do not produce on the insane mass scale that they do, however among the independent children’s clothing lines out there we are certain we have the best prices. The price of fuel and the struggling economy make a huge impact on almost every aspect of our business but we are determined to keep our prices as low as possible without sacrificing quality.
This season we are introducing our new Pocket Tee which is made from super soft 100% cotton and printed with water-based ink to give it that soft vintage feel. Theses shirts also have a casual rolled bottom hem that looks really cool. We are also introducing a new line of unprinted shirts called Fooey Basics. These are our same great Pocket Tees but just not printed with any design.

Also new this season, we pay homage to our favorite Cinderella story Carl Spackler and give you the Spackler Shorts! These awesome canvas shorts are ready for any adventure your kids throw at them. Cut like a board short, the Spackler has patch pockets with frayed edges, reinforced stitching and a distressed garment-washed finish. These shorts are perfect for chasing gophers, we know Carl would approve.

We are introducing a new sundress available in two designs. These cute dresses are made from super soft 100% cotton. Light and breezy, perfect for summer! They look great over jeans too.
Use coupon code “summer08″ for 10% OFF any new item or Baby Blanket. Oh yeah, we have new baby blankets too! Expires 6/6/08
OH MY GOD, we are freaking out! We just received our new spring line from the manufacturer and we can’t wait for you to see everything. Over the next couple days we will be sorting, photographing and adding everything to the website but right now we are so excited we had to post something today.
We have several new short sleeve pocket tees, shorts and dresses and they all turned out so cool. EVERYTHING is our own exclusive, custom body style and color. The T-shirts and dresses are insanely soft 100% cotton with super soft water-based ink. The shorts are just too cool to try and describe, we will post photos soon!
We have never been more excited about a new line. I know you will all love it, PROMISE!
Join the Fooey Secret Saver Society and not only will you receive an email the second the new items are available on our website you will also be given a coupon code exclusively for society members.
I realize this is kind of a cop out posting because admittedly I do not have the energy to write a thorough synopsis or description of what is one of our favorite shows, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Is it ok if I just say we LOVE this show and leave it at that? I also don’t feel like doing a ton of research about our favortite actor on It’s Always Sunny, Charlie Day. Here’s something, according to wikipedia “Day spent most of his childhood in Middletown, Rhode Island” – who cares, the show is awesome and the entire cast is amazing. I probably should have timed this post to coincide with their new season but, again, lazy.
I will smash your face into a jelly!

David Cook owes an apology to Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey for what he just did to “Baba O’Riley” on American Idol. While you’re at it David, go ahead and apologize to Keith Moon and John Entwistle even though they are dead. Then I want you to hop on a plane and personally apologize to me and my ears. Then fly home and apologize to your parents and one more time to Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey.
It’s not just this guy either, that suburban dreadlocked Jason whatever his last name is just butchered Bob Marley and then forgot the lyrics to “Mr. Tambourine Man.” And what’s with the 16 year old kid who desperately wants to be a 65 year old woman. Apologize!
They all suck so hard. What happened to music? Am I just getting old? NO! This crap is just crap and there needs to be some apologies flying all over the place, immediately!
I need something to cleanse my palate.

The holiday of Cinco De Mayo commemorates the victory of the Mexican militia over the French army at The Battle Of Puebla in 1862. It is a common misconception by many Americans that May 5th is Mexican Independence Day which is actually September 16th.
Team Fooey will be celebrating at the new Rick Bayless “quick-service” restaurant Frontera Fresco. Come join us!
UPDATE: Frontera Fresco was crap! We want our lunch hour back Rick Bayless! One of our employees quit after we forced her to go. Tiny menu, nowhere to sit, had to clean our table from the previous diners, muy pequeno (small) guacamole, chips from a bag, weird white colored meat (steak?) on salad and the restaurant smelled like a wet dog. Not cheap either especially for what you get. What happened Rick? Doesn’t seem like something you would attach your name to.
